After the proper amount of time, the heat source is removed from the bottom chamber, creating a vacuum that draws the brewed coffee through a filter back into the bottom chamber. No paper filters to make the coffee dull! Just a small easy cleaned micron nylon filter for a smooth and even cleaner coffee. The flavor is similar to a French Press with less sediment.
