Water is heated in the bottom compartment. As the pressure builds, the water rises to the top and mixes with the coffee. When the heat is removed, the delicious coffee is pulled back down by the vacuum in the bottom chamber. The process is fascinating to watch, and a conversation piece when entertaining. But the real treat is the full bodied flavor similar to French press, but without the heavy sediment and grinds in your coffee.
