Product Description EarMax is the world's smallest vacuum tube headphone amplifier. Introduced in early 1994, it has captured the hearts of many music lovers and audiophiles all over the world. Its miniature size, unique, attractive styling and smooth, accurate reproduction of music have made it a favorite with tube equipment lovers. Headphone listeners have been astounded at its performance and its affordable price.
The EarMax is a great iPod accessory - the sound we get hooking up an iPod to this headphone amplifier driving Sennheiser HD600 or HD650 headphones is simply amazing. Try the Apple lossless setting for you best audiiophile cd's and you will be amazed at the clarity and musicality your iPod can provide. Of course, the EarMax is not limited to the iPod, use it on any portable player for improved sound or on any high end source like a cd player, SACD, DVD Audio player etc for stunning audiophile sound.
How does EarMax sound so great?
EarMax boasts an Output Transformer Less (OTL), Class A Triode design. The lack of an output transformer eliminates one additional path for the audio signal to pass through. The result is pure, clean, smooth, and most importantly, musical sound.
Although the EarMax will sound best with a high quality high level source, it will also improve the sound of portable CD players. Just hook the EarMax to the line out of the CD player and plug in some high quality headphones. You will add audiophile quality amplification and bypass the inexpensive volume controls typically found in portables.
